Gambling Disorder Symposium

“Gambling Brought to Light”

March 4 & 5, 2021
Virtual Educational Sessions Each Morning


In recognition of Problem Gambling Awareness Month, the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS) is hosting the Thirteen Annual Gambling Disorder Symposium. The symposium is a forum that provides continuing education credits to professional members of the Gambling Disorder community, and access to Gambling Disorder trainings, treatment, prevention resources and personal recovery stories.  Anyone affected by or interested in GD, is welcome to attend.

This year’s symposium will address how COVID has changed the face of gambling, the impact made to gambling disorder within the youth and veteran communities, the implications of sports betting and on-line gambling, and responsible gambling.
Fees

There will be no fee to attend this virtual training; however, registration is required and space is limited.

Who Should Attend
CEOs, COOs, CFOs, medical directors, clinical directors, case workers, supports coordinators, and other practitioners at all levels of practice (beginning, intermediate and/or advanced).
CEUs Social Workers: This course conference series qualifies for a maximum of 5.5 Continuing Education Hours. The Community Mental Health Association is an approved provider with the Michigan Social Work Continuing Education Collaborative. Approved Provider Number: MICEC 060818. Qualifies as “face-to-face (in-person) education.”
Substance Abuse Professionals: CMHA is approved by Michigan Certification Board for Addiction Professionals (MCBAP). CMHA maintains the responsibility for the program and content. Substance Abuse Professionals participating in the full conference series may receive a maximum of  5.5 contact hours. Qualifies as “in-person education.” Some "Related" workshops may meet MCBAP/IC&RC educational requirements for focused topics in addiction certification domains. It is important that attendees keep a copy of the conference program brochure containing the workshop descriptions along with their attendance record form.
Gambling: IGCCB has approved this conference for 5.5 CE hours.
Continuing Education Requirement: National Accreditation rules indicate that if you are over five (5) minutes late or depart early, you forfeit your continuing education hours for that session. Please note that this is a National rule that CMHA must enforce or we could lose our provider status to provide continuing education hours in the future. This rule will be strictly followed.
Certificate Awarded: The virtual platform will be utilized to track participation and generate certificates. No other certificate will be given outside of the virtual platform generated one that will be accessible in your profile after the conference is completed.

Cancellation/Substitution Policy: While there is no fee for this training, we request written cancellation notice at least 10 business days before the training. If you do not plan to attend, please notify cward@cmham.org so that we may open your seat to someone else. Registration substitutions are allowed up to 3-business days before the training.
Virtual Participation: You are expected to actively participate in the conference. See below for guidelines.

You must watch the virtual conference LIVE to receive CE credit for each session.
Recommend that attendees log into the virtual training at least 15 minutes before the session begin.
Registration report will indicate arrival time (note for continuing education you must be logged into the virtual training within 5 minutes of the start of the session).
Internet: A strong internet connection is HIGHLY recommended. If your internet service is not able to stream videos, it will likely not be strong enough to support this conference. You will want a minimum upload speed of 5mbps. 
After confirmation that you fully participated in the conference, you will have access to your certificate via the conference website. This will take approximately 1 week after the conference concludes.

If you are unable to attend after you register, please email cward@cmham.org.  This will allow someone who is on the waiting list to attend in your place.
