TRI Lead and Mercury Air Releases Continue Sharp Decline in 2019 

According to the 2019 Toxics Release Inventory (TRI) National Analysis, releases of mercury and mercury compounds from industrial and federal facilities to air have decreased by 73% since 2007, driven by reductions at electric utilities that have switched from burning coal to burning natural gas. Releases of lead and lead compounds to air are down 64%, driven by reductions at electric utilities and primary metals facilities.
