Note: Current members eligible for reappointment must submit a letter of interest to the commissioners before the application closing date. If the commissioners agree that the current member promotes the well-being of the board and meets the qualifications to continue serving, they will be given priority over new applicants. Current members are not guaranteed reappointment, and new applicants are encouraged. The commissioners reserve the right to appoint the most suitable applicants based on their discretion and the information provided to them during the application process.

  • Affordable Housing Resident Oversight Committee: - Seeking one regular member to fill a three-year term that runs June 1, 2024, through May 31, 2027. The current member has submitted a letter of interest seeking reappointment and is eligible to continue serving. Missoula City Council adopted The Affordable Housing Trust Fund (AHTF) on July 20, 2020. The Affordable Housing Trust Fund is an ongoing funding source to meet affordable housing needs and community goals. The Committee will oversee key functions of the Trust Fund, including approving the administrative policies and the annual Allocation Plan. The Committee will not make funding decisions for every project supported by the Trust Fund. Meetings are held virtually on Teams and in City Council Chambers, 140 W Pine Street, on the second Tuesday of every other month (February, April, June, August, October, and December), at 6:00 p.m.

  • Missoula City-County Library Board - Seeking applicants to fill one five-year term running July 1, 2024, through June 30, 2029. In addition, seeking applicants to fill the remainder of a five-year term expiring June 30, 2028. The Board of trustees is the policy-making body of the library. Trustees control the expenditures of the public library fund, the construction or leasing of the library building and the operations and care of the library. The board of trustees hires the library director, who serves at the pleasure of the board. Meeting are held the fourth Wednesday of each month at 6:00 p.m.

  • Lolo Community Council - Commissioners are seeking applicants to fill a vacant seat through May 31, 2025. At that time, if the board member wishes to continue serving, they will need to file as a candidate in the special district elections. Council members act as a liaison between the citizens of the Lolo area and the county commissioners, providing information deemed useful, beneficial, and helpful in decisions that affect the community. Applicants must be residents of the Lolo community.

  • Big Flat Irrigation District- Commissioners are seeking applicants to fill a vacant seat through May 31, 2026. At that time, if the board member wishes to continue serving, they will need to file as a candidate in the special district elections.

  • Clinton Community Council - Commissioners are seeking applicants to fill the remainder for two alternate seats ending May 31, 2026. Council members act as a liaison between the citizens of the Clinton area and the county commissioners, providing information deemed useful, beneficial and helpful in decisions that affect the community. Applicants must be residents of the Clinton community.

  • Clinton Rural Fire District - Commissioners are seeking applicants to fill the remainder of one three-year term that runs through May 31, 2025. At that time, if the council member wishes to continue serving, they will need to file as a candidate in the special district elections.

  • East Frenchtown Water District - Commissioners are seeking applicants to fill two new four-year terms that run June 1, 2024, through May 31, 2028. In addition, seeking applicants for the alternate seat for a new four-year term that runs June 1, 2024, through May 31, 2028.

  • East Missoula Rural Fire District -Commissioners are seeking applicants to fill new three-year term from June 1, 2024, through May 31, 2027. At that time, if the council member wishes to continue serving, they will need to file as a candidate in the special district elections.

  • East Missoula Sewer District -Commissioners are seeking applicants to fill three four-year terms from June 1, 2024, through May 31, 2028. At that time, if the council member wishes to continue serving, they will need to file as a candidate in the special district elections.

  • Elk Meadows Ranchettes County Water District -Commissioners are seeking applicants to fill two four-year terms from June 1, 2024, through May 31, 2028. At that time, if the council member wishes to continue serving, they will need to file as a candidate in the special district elections.

  • Greenough-Potomac Rural Fire Service Area -Commissioners are seeking applicants to fill new three-year term from June 1, 2024, through May 31, 2027. At that time, if the council member wishes to continue serving, they will need to file as a candidate in the special district elections.

  • Seeley Lake Community Council - Commissioners are seeking applicants to fill one alternate seat for a new three-year term from June 1, 2024, through May 31, 2027. At that time, if the council member wishes to continue serving, they will need to file as a candidate in the special district elections. Council members act as a liaison between the citizens of the Seeley Lake area and the county commissioners, providing information deemed useful, beneficial and helpful in decisions that affect the community. Applicants must be residents of the Seeley Lake community.

  • Seeley Lake Sewer District -Commissioners are seeking applications for one new four-year term from June 1, 2024, through May 31, 2028. At that time, if the council member wishes to continue serving, they will need to file as a candidate in the special district elections.

  • Spring Meadows County Water District - Commissioners are seeking applicants to fill three four-year terms from June 1, 2024, through May 31, 2028. In addition, seeking to fill the remainder of two vacant two-year terms that run through May 31, 2026. At that time, if the council members wish to continue serving, they will need to file as a candidate in the special district elections.

  • Swan Valley Fire Service Area - Commissioners are seeking applicants to fill one three-year term from June 1, 2024, through May 31, 2027. At that time, if the council members wish to continue serving, they will need to file as a candidate in the special district elections.

  • Turah Meadows Sewer and Water District - Commissioners are seeking applicants to fill two four-year terms from June 1, 2024, through May 31, 2028. At that time, if the council members wish to continue serving, they will need to file as a candidate in the special district elections.

  • West Valley Community Council -Commissioners are seeking applicants to fill one new three-year term form June 1, 2024, through May 31, 2027. In, addition, there are two vacant partial terms through May 31, 2025, and May 31, 2026. At that time, if the council members wish to continue serving, they will need to file as a candidate in the special district elections. Council members act as a liaison between the citizens of the West Valley area and the county commissioners, providing information deemed useful, beneficial and helpful in decisions that affect the community. Applicants must be residents of the West Valley community.

  • Aquatic Invasive Species District Board – Seeking applicants to fill remainder of two regular seats running through Dec. 31, 2025 and Dec. 31, 2026. In addition, seeking applicants to fill the remainder of two alternate seats ending Dec, 31 2024. Applicants must be residents of Missoula County, have a commitment to aquatic invasive species management and be willing to attend meetings and other functions related to aquatic invasive species. Members who represent a variety of relevant expertise and areas of the County are needed. Seven regular and two alternate member seats are open to new applicants. Meetings are held at 4 p.m. on the third Wednesday of each month, September through May.

  • Impact Fee Advisory Committee – Seeking applicants to fill remainder of two regular seats running Dec. 31, 2025, and one regular seat running through Dec. 31,2026. The Impact Fee Advisory Committee advises the board of county commissioners and represent the residents of Missoula County in reviewing and monitoring the process of calculating, assessing and spending impact fees. The advisory committee is statutorily required to include at least one representative of the development community. 

  • Lolo Mosquito Control Board – Seeking applicants to fill the remainder of one three-year term running through Dec. 31, 2026. The board consists of five members serving three-year terms. The board of trustees, Lolo Mosquito Abatement District, was created Oct. 1, 1978, as a Mosquito Abatement District by Missoula County. The district manages and controls mosquito pests and minimizes mosquito-borne diseases such as West Nile and equine encephalitis. Meetings vary as needed.  Applicants must be registered voters within the boundaries of Lolo and Woodman School Districts.

  • Missoula Consolidated Planning Board (MCPB) – Seeking applicants to fill the remainder of one county alternate member with a term through Dec. 31, 2025. Member must reside/live outside City limits. The MCPB is comprised of nine city and county members. The objective is to enable units of local government within Missoula County to cooperate in promoting quality of life and healthy environment through the orderly development of those units and their environs by planning for the improvement of the present health, safety, convenience and welfare of their citizens and the future development of their communities. Meetings are held at 7 p.m. on the first and third Tuesdays of each month in the Sophie Moiese Room (151) in the Missoula County Court house annex.  

  • Planning and Zoning Commission – Seeking applicants to fill one two-year term running through Dec. 31, 2025. In addition, seeking applicants to fill the remainder of a term through Dec. 31, 2024. The Planning and Zoning Commission consists of three county commissioners, either the county surveyor or the county clerk and recorder and two citizen members who MUST live within the boundaries of a citizen-initiated planning and zoning district; (Residents with county zoning). Meetings vary as needed.

  • Tax Appeal Board - Seeking applicants to fill one three-year term that runs April 1, 2024, through March 31, 2027. The board is comprised of five members and meets to hear taxpayers' appeals from property tax assessments and attends meetings called by the state tax appeal board. The County tax appeal board is in session from July 1 through Dec. 31 of the current tax year to hear protests concerning assessments that the state Department of Revenue makes. The board meets until all protests have been considered. As provided in MCA 15-2-201, the board may meet after Dec. 31. Protests are often heard during business hours and require board member participation during that time. In-person hearings are held in the upstairs conference room of the Montana Department of Revenue building at 2681 Palmer St. in Missoula. Applicants must be Missoula County residents.

  • Weed Control Board – Seeking applicants to fill the remainder of two regular member seats ending Dec. 31,2024 and Dec. 31, 2025. In addition, seeking applicants for the remainder of two alternate seats running Dec, 31, 2024 and Dec. 31, 2025. The board consists of nine regular members and two alternate positions. The board oversees the planning, implementing and developing of a coordinated program that includes education, prevention, management and research as described in the Weed District’s Noxious Weed Management Plan. The members represent landowners’ interests county-wide. Meetings are held at 4 p.m. on the third Thursday of each month, September through May, at the Missoula County Extension and Weed District Office. 

  • Zoning Board of Adjustment – Seeking applicants to fill two alternate seats running through Dec. 31, 2024 and Dec.31, 2025. The Missoula County Zoning Board of Adjustment provides equality and flexibility in the implementation of county zoning. The board administers provisions of the County Zoning Resolution and hears and decides appeals, variances and special exceptions to terms in the County Zoning Resolution upon which the board is required to pass under that resolution. Meetings are held at 6 p.m. on the third Wednesday of each month in the Missoula County Courthouse Sophie Moiese Room.
