Position Summary

The City of Brooklyn Park is looking for an Applications Analyst who enjoys the challenges and rewards in solving technology problems and helping others in a progressive technology environment.
 
Applications Analyst will lead, coordinate and collaborate with technical teams on the evaluation, implementation and on-going support of the City’s paperless content management and process automation initiatives.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Lead teams on using Laserfiche in support of our process automation initiatives. 
  • Build reports, forms and workflows to support process improvements.
  • Database administration including backups, restoration, queries and extracts.
  • Work with departments on gathering solution requirements and securing final acceptance.
  • Test solutions to ensure they meet design requirements.
  • Review and apply software updates.
  • Support existing software applications through interaction with City staff and software vendors.
  • Document solutions and technical processes.
  • Coordinate software training for city staff.
  • Represent the City at user group meetings and attend annual conferences held by our software vendors
  • Participate in the ITS on-call schedule for after-hours technical support
  • Assist with second level technical support for applications when a technical service specialist needs help.
  • Assist the IT Manager with scoping projects and developing project charters. 
  • Prioritize and manage multiple application projects at the same time.
  • Leadership skills to meet tight deadlines, manage user expectations, and work well in a team environment.
  • Coordinate software training for city staff.
  • Basic troubleshooting and understanding of network equipment.
  • Other duties as assigned or apparent.

Minimum and Desired Qualifications

Education
Associate's degree in Information Systems or closely related.

Experience
Three years of experience which includes the following:

  • administering and supporting enterprise applications in a Microsoft Windows environment
  • leading or participating in teams on the evaluation, analysis, and implementation of software applications
  • ad-hoc report design and creation
  • general hardware troubleshooting

OR
 
 Five years of experience which includes the above essential duties.

Equivalency
An equivalent combination of education and experience closely related to the duties of the position MAY be considered.

Valid driver's license

  • Experience in supporting applications in a local government environment

  • Experience in Microsoft SQL
  • Previous experience working with people from various cultural, socioeconomic, racial and ethnic backgrounds
  • Fluency in Spanish, Hmong, Laotian, Russian, Somali or Vietnamese language(s)

Selection Process
The selection process will consist of one or more of the following steps: a rating of relevant education and experience and/or an oral examination (100%). Anticipated Work Schedule
Full-time, non-exempt, non-union position subject to a flexible schedule that includes a standard eight (8)-hour work day, Monday through Friday.  The City’s alternate work arrangement policy allows for working from home up to two days per week along with flexibility on hours and days worked.
 
This position also takes part in the City’s evening and weekend on-call duties which is rotated among 7 team members.  The City compensates the on-call position an additional $475 per week plus hourly pay when responding to incidents.

Anticipated Hiring Wage
$32.37-37.53 per hour, depending on qualifications
