Help Make Prescription Drugs More Affordable in Maryland

The Maryland Health Care for All! Coalition is hosting a series of community forums to explore how Maryland can make high-cost drugs more affordable in Maryland.

Each session will feature:

  • Planned remarks from a member of Maryland’s Prescription Drug Affordability Board, key stakeholders, and local leaders with opportunity for Q&A.
  • Small-group discussion of the issues and input to guide the work of the Prescription Drug Affordability Board. 
  • Closing remarks will highlight key findings from the breakout session and next action steps.

Montgomery County Free “Friendship Picnic” to Celebrate Diverse Cultures and Faiths
Sunday, September 18 from 12:00 pm to 5:00 pm
Wheaton Regional Park, 2000 Shorefield Road, Silver Spring, Maryland 20902

The ninth annual Montgomery County “Friendship Picnic” will bring people of diverse cultures and faiths together to make new friends and discuss ways to build a stronger community. This free event is an initiative of the Montgomery County Committee Against Hate/Violence (CAHV), which works to eradicate acts of hate and intimidation through community education, advocacy, collaboration, and legislation.

All are welcome to the celebration, which will include traditional, Kosher, Halal and vegetarian lunch options. There will be a wide range of activities for children and adults including music, dancing, moon bounce, face painting, a petting zoo, the carousel, and rides on the park’s miniature train.

Attendees do not need to bring food or drink to the event. All will be provided. There is no need to register in advance to attend.  A free satellite parking shuttle service to and from the Wheaton Ice Rink and athletic fields will be available.

Emergency Preparedness for Villages: Keeping Yourself and Your Community Safe Friday, September 30 from 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm via Zoom

Patrick Fleming (Office of Emergency Management & Homeland Security) and Sean O’Donnell (Dep. of Health & Human Services) will share critical information about simple steps that can save your life. We will also discuss villages’ role in responding to emergencies and disasters.

Complete the Medical Transportation Project Survey
The survey aims to initiate a dialogue between stakeholders from across Maryland and to develop strategies that promote Non-Emergency (including Non-Medicaid) Medical Transportation (NEMT) in Maryland. This type of survey, sponsored by the Rural Maryland Council and Tri-County Council for Southern Maryland, will allow the Project to engage participants, collect data on regional or industry perceptions, and identify various opinions.
