$600K Worth of Meth Seized by Border Patrol

TUCSON, Ariz. – U.S. Border Patrol agents seized 25 pounds of crystalized methamphetamines near Amado, Monday afternoon.

Tucson Sector Border Patrol agents on a routine desert patrol northwest of Amado, found a camouflage backpack hidden in the brush. After opening the backpack, the agents discovered five plastic containers, wrapped in cellophane with suspected methamphetamine.  The agents searched the area extensively for any other narcotics, persons, or foot sign leading to the backpack. The dangerous narcotics were found near the Border Patrol Checkpoint located in Amado. 

The suspected narcotics were seized and tested positive for the characteristics of methamphetamine.  The methamphetamine will be turned over to the Drug Enforcement Agency for its destruction.  

U.S. Customs and Border Protection officials’ welcome assistance from the community. Individuals can report suspicious activity to the Border Patrol and remain anonymous by calling 1-877-872-7435 toll free. Reporting illicit activity could result in saving someone’s life.
