Thursday, April 18: Scattered rain showers will decrease fire activity as a cold front moves across the Flint Hills. However, northeasterly to north-northeasterly winds will develop in the evening, which may transport smoke from potential fires in the far west-central and northwestern Flint Hills into Wichita.
Friday, April 19: Northeasterly to east-northeasterly winds will persist through the afternoon and evening as surface high pressure develops north of Kansas. While these winds will be strong enough to aid dispersion, they will also be capable of carrying smoke from potential fires in the central Flint Hills into Wichita. |
