Preschool Development Grant (PGD) Overview:
Nebraska's goal is for families to have quality early childhood options, supported by strong community leadership and a well-aligned state system.
2018 PDG B-5 Grant:
The Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) was one of 46 states/territories to receive a notification of the $4.1 million Preschool Development Birth through Five Initial Grant Award from the Administration for Children and Families in December 2018. Its purpose is to encourage more efficient use of federal, local, and private resources to align and strengthen the delivery of existing early childhood services. With these funds, Nebraska completed an array of activities including a Statewide Needs Assessment and Statewide Strategic Plan.

2019 PDG B-5 Grant:
Building on the successful implementation of the Preschool Development Birth though Five Initial Grant Award in 2018, Nebraska DHHS has been awarded the Preschool Development Grant Birth through Five Renewal Grant. DHHS will receive $8.9 million for each of the next three years from the PDG Renewal Grant. The first grant year cycle starts April 30, 2020.
