As summer winds down and kids return to school, routine vaccinations are a top public health priority. The Pima County Health Department wants to make sure parents know what vaccinations are required in the State of Arizona so they can add immunizations to their back-to-school list.

This annual contest not only celebrates the bond between Pima County residents and their pets, but also raises vital funds for Friends of PACC, a nonprofit organization that supports the Pima Animal Care Center in its mission to save pets in need.

County's detention facilities are 1st in state

What’s the difference between Pima County’s detention facilities and a clinic for sexually transmitted infections? Not much, according to the federal government. Now, the Pima County Adult Detention Complex and Pima County Juvenile Detention Center are the first detention facilities in Arizona to be recognized as Covered Entities for participation in the United States Health Resources and Administration’s 340B Drug Pricing Program.

Health Department congratulates partners
for supporting mental health education

The Pima County Health Department is recognizing community partners for creating a culture of support and compassion by prioritizing mental health for their employees and the community through the Mental Health First Aid initiative. Since 2021, the Health Department has trained 255 individuals with 10 different agencies as mental health first aiders.

Get to farmers markets via The Loop

Can't decide between doing a little bit of shopping or getting some exercise? Well, never fear; The Loop is here. The County's famous multiuse path can take you to two of the community's most popular farmer's markets — the Heirloom Farmers Market at Rillito Park and the market at St. Philip's Plaza. Work up a sweat by walking or biking along the path and then browse the markets' artisanal offerings. Just don't plan on buying too much. You didn't arrive by car, after all.

through Summer Swim Team Program

For a lot of kids, Pima County’s annual Summer Swim Team Program may be the first — or even the only — competitive event they ever participate in. Perhaps that’s why they throw themselves into the program so wholeheartedly, splashing their way through weekly practices, five swim meets and a daylong championship at the height of the Tucson summer.
