"Libraries Are Forever"
Iowa's Online Conference
January 25, 2024
We are now two weeks away from the State Library's annual ILOC Conference! Scheduled for January 25, this is an all-day online conference, this year surrounding the theme "Libraries Are Forever." The acronym stands for Innovative Libraries Online Conference. Now in its seventeenth year, ILOC really ushers in the start of a new year of continuing education programming from the State Library.
Check out the ILOC webpage for descriptions of the keynote speakers, the breakout sessions, and the day's schedule. This year, the ILOC sessions will consider sustainable programs, long-term outcomes, and positive impacts that libraries contribute in every community. Throughout the day, we'll cover these topics and more:
- Sustainability in building operations (i.e. “green” improvements)
- Ongoing partnerships and library collaborations
- Positive interactions with other city services or departments
- Sustainable and alternative funding options
We’ve always encouraged ILOC day to be a staff development day, encouraging as many staff as possible to login all together and make it a day of learning. Some libraries are even able to close for much of the day--or all day--to make the most of the ILOC Conference as staff development.
Remember, too, that ILOC includes an evening program especially for trustees, setting up a great watch-party opportunity for your boards @ your libraries 😊
Can't attend all day? No problem, log into the conference whenever your schedule allows. And bonus--the entire day is free!
