2024 Legislative Update Week 8

As the end of session approaches, the last cutoff for potential legislation occurs today. For the time remaining, floor debate is aimed towards the House and Senate reaching agreements on budgetary differences, variances in legislation passed by both chambers and matters related to business once session ends on Thursday March 7^th.

Although infrequent, if a stalemate arises, a special session can be called for.

House Bill 1541, the Nothing For Us Without Us bill, passed both chambers and appears to be headed to the governor for signature. The bill increases access and representation in the policy-making process. As many underrepresented populations are left out of the decisions that affect them most, the bill would ensure historically underrepresented communities have a seat at the table.
