Inflation Reduction Act Community Change Grants Program

There is Still Time to Apply

EPA’s Environmental and Climate Justice Community Change Grants program (Community Change Grants) is still accepting applications for the approximately $2 billion dollars in Inflation Reduction Act funds for environmental and climate justice activities. Activities aim to benefit disadvantaged communities through projects that reduce pollution, increase community climate resilience, and build community capacity to address environmental and climate justice challenges.

This grant opportunity is especially positioned to advance the protection of our children, especially in vulnerable communities, with support and participation from applicable children’s health organizations seeking to promote environmental and climate justice and to protect the health of the next generation.

EPA is accepting and reviewing applications on a rolling basis, and interested applicants should submit as soon as they are able. The deadline to apply is November 21, 2024.

Eligibility

The entities eligible to apply under this NOFO are:

• A partnership between two community-based non-profit organizations (CBOs). 
• A partnership between a CBO and one of the following: 
• a Federally-Recognized Tribe
• a local government (including school districts)
• an institution of higher education

Other organizations and entities may be able to participate and be involved in the Community Change Grants projects as collaborating subrecipients and/or procurement contractors selected in compliance with competition requirements.

Additional Information

The grant program consists of two tracks: Track I, Community-Driven Investments for Change, and Track II, Meaningful Engagement for Equitable Governance.

• Track I applications is targeted toward projects that promote environmental and climate justice and pollution reduction, and awards range from $10 to $20 million.
• Track II projects is centered around building relationships between disadvantaged communities and their governments, and awards range from $1 to $3 million.

Project terms for both tracks are up to 3 years.
