AIR RIFLE TEAM NEWS

LBSS was well represented at the USA Shooting Virginia Junior Olympic State Championship last weekend. For the first time in LBSS Rifle team History, a Bruin is the STATE CHAMPION. Diana Leppert beat 80 other competitors from all over Virginia to win the match with the highest score overall and the highest for gender. Diana will represent Virginia at the 2024 Junior Olympics held at the Olympic Training Center in Colorado. This is also a historic moment for LBSS as it is the only time in history that the reigning National Champion and a State Champion are from the same family in the same year. Congratulations Diana and the Leppert Family!

Inside INDOOR Track & Field

Congratulations to all of the athletes who competed last weekend. There were so many great performances!

Special congratulations #1 to Kai Bolme and his NEW SCHOOL RECORD in the shot put. Kai finished 3^rd at the Virginia Showcase in Virginia Beach with a 55' throw. The previous record of 54-1.75 was set 45 years ago in 1978. Way to go Kai! The performance puts Kai at #2 in 6A!

Special congratulations #2 to the Lake Braddock Female Athlete of the Month, Miss Madilyn Lewis! She's a star and the whole school knows it!!

Between the 3 meets we were at this weekend (Virginia Showcase, Warhawk Polar Bear Invitational, Northern VA TJMS Meet #8), we had over 50 Season and Personal Best performances. We are setting ourselves up nicely for the last two meets of the season before the District Championships.

We’re sure most of you are aware of the fiasco that was Winter Tryout Card Distribution! We currently have one athletic trainer on staff, and she is doing the absolute BEST that she possibly can to make the tryout card process a smooth one each season. To make this process faster and more efficient, we ask that paperwork be submitted BEFORE Spring Tryout Card Distribution week, so that she spends less time explaining things to each individual student, and more time getting them in and out of the line as quickly as possible! Help her help you! Get physicals submitted and the Online Athletic Registration completed ASAP!!

Middle School Sports

The 2nd official Middle School Sports Season, Outdoor Track and Field, is scheduled to start after Spring Break (April 3rd). Meets will be April 13 – May 11.

At this time, registration is closed but will be opening soon! If you are planning on registering your student, make sure to get a Sports Physical done (form below) and fill out an Emergency Care Card (ECC).

• Regular Season Adult tickets are $5; student tickets are $5. Children ages 5 and under as well as senior citizens 60+ will be admitted free.

• Booster Passes are not accepted for post season games.

• Fans can enter through Door 14..
