Because a survivor’s safety is strongly correlated to maintaining confidentiality, courts and service providers must carefully protect any information potentially useful for identifying or locating finding them. This course provides some key best practices to guide courts and providers on improving policy and practices to protect survivors’ privacy and information them of their rights.

As a result of participating in this course, participants will be able to:
• Summarize why protecting the privacy of survivors matters
• Identify what the participants’ role is in promoting the safety of survivors
• Recognize survivor-centered strategies to improve communication with survivors and institutions
• Plan methods to notify survivors of their privacy rights, including improving policy related to privacy rights
