IMPORTANT INFORMATION REGARDING RN LICENSURE RENEWAL

Licenses Expire April 30, 2025

Renewal email reminders are targeted to be emailed by Monday, February 17, 2025, and may be sent over several days. If you do not receive your renewal by March 1, 2025, email moprotech@pr.mo.gov or call 833-373-2936 for assistance. You no longer need a PIN to renew. The Missouri Division of Professional Registration has a new secure online licensing system called MOPRO. This system will be used for all nurse accounts. This account is not the same as your Nursys® e-Notify account. You will have two accounts- one with Nursys® e-Notify (national system) and the other with MOPRO, (the Missouri state licensing system).

  1. Make sure you are enrolled in Nursys® e-Notify as a Nurse at www.nursys.com/e-notify. If you are already enrolled in Nursys® e-Notify as a Nurse, review your account, and make sure you have updated your account within the last year.
  2. Go to https://mopro.mo.gov. If you have not already registered for your MOPRO account, click on "Register" and follow the prompts to register. Click the "Frequently Asked Questions" link on the right-side for registration assistance. If you encounter difficulty with MOPRO account creation, email moprotech@pr.mo.gov or call 833-373-2936.
  3. After you have successfully created your MOPRO account and are logged in, you can click on the RENEW A LICENSE button or navigate to MY LICENSES, click on the eye icon, then RENEWAL APPLICATION under LICENSE ACTIONS.
  4. IF YOU HOLD AN APRN LICENSE: After you have renewed your Missouri RN license, go back to your MOPRO account, click on the RENEW A LICENSE button or navigate to MY LICENSES, click on the eye icon next to your APRN license, then RENEWAL APPLICATION under LICENSE ACTIONS to renew your APRN license.

There are four APRN roles: nurse practitioner, clinical nurse specialist, nurse anesthetist and nurse midwife. There are specialties within the nurse practitioner and clinical nurse specialist roles. You may remember that the licensure model for APRNs changed in 2023 from a model of recognition to licensure. When you review your APRN license, you will notice that you will have one license number per role and any specialties will be shown under the role. If you were an APRN that had multiple license numbers, your earliest license number was retained. As an example, Nurse Nancy had a Family Nurse Practitioner license number and another license number for Family Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner. In the new system, these two license records were combined into one Nurse Practitioner license with two specialties and the earliest (first) license number was retained.

Every nurse is assigned a NCSBN ID that never expires, is never assigned to another nurse, does not change when you are licensed in other states and is the easiest way to look up your record in the Nursys database. Your records are tied together by this NCSBN ID. You can learn more about your NCSBN ID at License Verification (Nursys.com) | NCSBN

Tips:

  • Make sure you are enrolled in Nursys e-Notify first.
  • Use a personal email address for your MOPRO account.
  • Consider using the same email address for your MOPRO and Nursys e-Notify account.
  • Use Google Chrome.

CONSUMER ALERT: Missouri State Board of Nursing Warns of Scam Targeting Missouri Licensees

The Missouri State Board of Nursing is alerting Missourians of a scam targeting licensees in the state. This scam is targeting licensees by phone and mail.

A nurse alerted the Missouri State Board of Nursing after she received several phone calls from two people identifying themselves by name and claiming to be Chief Investigators with the state of Missouri. She was also instructed to pick up a faxed letter from a local UPS store, forged to appear as though it was official documentation from the Board. The caller had the licensee's Missouri license number and requested expedited payment to prevent an arrest warrant, falsely informing her of a suspended state license.

"The Board cannot suspend a license without due process, it has no fine authority, and it does not have the authority to issue arrest warrants," said Lori Scheidt, Executive Director of the Missouri State Board of Nursing. "I am concerned that these scammers are using licensing information, which is public record, to make their communications appear official. Never provide information to an unknown caller, even if the number seems legitimate."

If nurses receive a call or communication, they can search for their record using Licensure QuickConfirm at nursys.com. After the record is accessed, they can print a report that will show their license number, original issue date, whether they have a multistate or single state license and discipline status.

Nurses are urged to enroll in Nursys® e-Notify. Licensees receive renewal reminders, notification when a license is officially renewed, and notification of any changes to their license or discipline status. When enrolling in e-Notify, nurses can opt in to receive automated electronic reminders.
