What is a family support provider?

A family support provider is a trained professional who will share information, guidance and resources with you during your pregnancy and after your baby is born. Your provider will talk with you about how you’re feeling and your baby’s milestones. They will help you create a plan for how to reach your goals so you can be the best mom you can be. Our providers receive specialized training to support you as you support your child.

How long can I expect to receive support?

It’s best to get connected as soon as you find out you’re pregnant so you can receive the fullest range of support. Your family support provider meets with you throughout your pregnancy and after your baby is born unless you choose to opt out earlier. Staying in the program can help you feel confident as your baby grows and changes. The program is completely voluntary.

My Healthy Baby works with local family support provider programs across the state and the length of support a mom receives can vary based on what her local program offers. Most provider programs offer in-home support through at least the first year after the baby is born, while others offer support until the child turns two or three.
