Gun Lock Program aims to secure communities and prevent violence

The Fort Worth Police Department and Fort Worth Mayor Mattie Parker announced the Free Gun Lock Program for Gun Violence Awareness Month on Wednesday, June 7, at the East Division Police Station.

Why it matters: The Police Department and Parker educated residents on the free gun lock program and provided a demonstration on how to use the gun locks. Residents will be able to visit any FWPD station and receive a free gun lock to be safe and responsible, help prevent accidents, and help keep firearms out of the wrong hands.

The gun locks are made available through a partnership with Project Child Safe, a firearms safety education program committed to promoting firearms safety by distributing safety kits and providing safety education.
