Department of Public Health’s Community Health Services Division is hiring for a Career Service Community Health Services Supervisor (CHSS) in Parent and Child Health. This position is based out of King County Public Health Centers at Columbia Public Health with supervisory oversight for First Steps and WIC services at Columbia and White Center at Greenbridge.  Public Health Centers provide patient centered services to pregnant and parenting women, infants, and children that are either co-located with reproductive health services for men, women, and teens or embedded within a community health clinic. The CHSS position is responsible for the oversight and support of multi-disciplinary teams that may include: Registered Nurses, Registered Dieticians, Community Health Workers, Nutrition Assistants, Social Workers, and Administrative Support staff. This position may also supervise other disciplines such as Interpreters and may expand their supervision to other sites. The CHSS will have the overall responsibility for the daily supervision of the team and be a key member of the site leadership team(s), working with Program staff, other supervisors, and community partners. Work Schedule

The typical work schedule for this position is Monday through Friday from 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM. Depending on business needs, work hours and on-site presence may be adjusted to meet Public Health Center needs. This position is exempt and not overtime eligible.

 

Work Location

This position is full-time in office and is based at the Columbia Public Health Center, located at 4400 37th Ave S. Seattle, WA 98118.

Job Duties

  • Oversee the delivery of community health services to clients at assigned work locations; connect with program subject matter experts to evaluate licensed staff practices as needed.
  • Supervise, evaluate, coach, and discipline assigned staff; provide ongoing performance feedback.
  • Identify resources and allocate staff to meet program needs.
  • Manage the hiring process for assigned staff.
  • Oversee the planning and coordination of training and orientation programs to meet staff needs and facilitate staff development.
  • Participate in planning, implementing, and evaluating community health programs.
  • Participate in the department's strategic planning and quality improvement efforts, including the community health planning process.
  • Evaluate, implement, and monitor quality assurance standards to ensure compliance with laws, regulations, policies, and procedures.
  • Participate in the budget development process and monitor the budget for the assigned work unit.
  • Work collaboratively with the community in developing, evaluating, and implementing short- and long-range Seattle/King County Department of Public Health goals and objectives.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Experience, Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills

  • Experience with community health programs, service delivery, and/or maintenance.
  • Experience with public health practices and principles.
  • Supervisory experience with managing others.
  • Knowledge and experience with budgeting techniques and principles.
  • Experience with program development and evaluation techniques and principles.
  • Knowledge of local and federal regulations governing the workplace.
  • Knowledge of law regarding healthcare disciplines.
  • Knowledge of interviewing techniques and principles.
  • Knowledge of policy analysis and development process.
  • Knowledge of Quality Assurance/Quality Control (QA/QC) standards.
  • Knowledge of continuous improvement techniques and principles.
  • Valid Washington State driver's license or have the ability to travel throughout King County in a timely manner.
