Children's book: 'Guardians of the internet'
The book "Guardians on the internet" is for children aged nine and over. Through an entertaining narration accompanied by three main characters, the book explains complex areas such as cyberbullying, social networks, sharing content on the internet, dating or playing games. Thought the book mostly covers technical issues, several chapters are devoted to, for example, digital well-being or artificial intelligence.
Slovenia: Increased cyberbullying among primary school children
The prevalence of cyberbullying among primary school children has increased significantly in the last six years - by 18 per cent for girls and 12 per cent for boys. According to this year's study, which was conducted by the Slovenian awareness centre Safe.si as part of the 2024 Safer Internet Day activities, 65 per cent of girls and 55 per cent of boys have experienced some form of cyberbullying in the last three years of primary school.
Advent calendar to enhance children's digital competence
The Estonian Union for Child Welfare, the coordinator of the Estonian Safer Internet Centre, has launched an educational online advent calendar for children. The purpose of the calendar is to offer practical tips and advice on how to use the Internet and digital devices safely and wisely.
Minecraft world on cybersecurity presented at Lisbon games week 2024
The Portuguese Safer Internet Centre is developing a Minecraft education world, where primary school children can explore and tackle fun challenges while learning more about internet safety.This Minecraft world was designed as an educational tool for teaching basic internet safety concepts in schools, such as the importance of creating strong passwords and avoiding clicking on unknown links. Lesson plans and guides for using the game and the world are also being developed, allowing teachers to be aware of the possibilities of the world to be explored.
