The Judges, Clerk and staff of the United States Bankruptcy Court wish to recognize and congratulate Acting United States Trustee John P. Fitzgerald III (Fitzgerald) for his service and contribution to the bankruptcy system in Region 4 and the District of South Carolina.  Fitzgerald joined the U.S. Trustee Program (USTP) in 1990, serving first as a trial attorney and then as the Assistant U.S. Trustee in the Portland, Maine, office. In 1992, he was appointed as the Assistant U.S. Trustee in the Boston office. Prior to joining the USTP, Fitzgerald was a trial attorney in the Department of Justice’s Tax Division, Criminal Section, for 10 years. Fitzgerald was appointed as the Acting U.S. Trustee for Region 4 effective Jan. 1, 2018.   After over 40 years of service, we wish him the best retirement on June 30th.
