PUBLIC NOTICE: Alaska Adult Education FY 2021 Request for Grant Applications (RGA) – Grant Solicitation Suspended
Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) Title II; Alaska Adult Education Program
Public Notice
Alaska Adult Education (AAE) Program
Request for Grant Applications for State Fiscal Years 2021, 2022, 2023
Grant Solicitation Suspended Due to the COVID-19 Crisis
The US Department of Education, Office of Career and Technical Adult Education (OCTAE), released Program Memorandum 20-3 regarding Adult Education and Family Literacy Act and COVID-19. Due to the broad impact of COVID-19 on both State administration of Adult Education and Family Literacy Act (AEFLA) programs, and service delivery by eligible providers, the Alaska Department of Labor and Workforce Development, Division of Employment and Training Services has suspended the request for grant proposals for the Alaska Adult Education Program.
Under “direct and equitable access” requirement in section 231(c) of Workforce Investment and Opportunity Act (WIOA), suspension of current adult education grant solicitations are generally precluded. However, due to the unique circumstances related to COVID-19, Alaska will suspend FY 2021 solicitation and extend FY 2020 eligible providers’ grants for a one-year period. Competitive solicitation resume in 2021 for FY 2022 projects.
