Campaigns you can get involved in+

Here we have a list of campaigns you can get involved in!

Cambridgeshire & Peterborough’s flagship mental health signposting and support website (keep-your-head.com) has been active since 2016, providing reliable advice and signposting to mental health support available both locally and across the country.  The site is very popular and has thousands of hits every month with the number constantly growing. The need for a trusted local guide to find out about different mental health symptoms and illnesses and where to go to find services has never been greater.

To help shape this refresh project, mental health leads in Cambridgeshire & Peterborough are eager to learn from all residents about their current preferences for accessing mental health information and support. They are interested in knowing where people would look for advice and support on mental health symptoms and illnesses, and how they would find out about what mental health services are available in their area and nationally.

Here is the link to the survey: bit.ly/KYHSurvey

The survey will take no more than 10 minutes of your time. If you would prefer to share your views over the phone instead, kindly contact victoria.morton@sunnetwork.org.uk before 30th July 2023 to arrange a time and date to take part.

Your feedback will inform the refresh of the Keep-Your-Head.com website and enable the team to develop an improved all-age, single point of access mental health website, with advice, information and signposting to mental health services and support in the region and highlight recent updates, changes and useful activities.

Staying hydrated is so important for your health and wellbeing. It can help prevent constipation, urine infections, headaches and other illnesses.

A new NHS campaign, ‘It All Counts’, aims to raise awareness of the importance of hydration, in particular in those over the age 65 living in Cambridgeshire and Peterborough.

Staying hydrated isn’t just about drinking water. Hot drinks, fruit juices, even bowls of soup and other fluid rich foods such as yoghurts, jelly, ice lollies and some pieces of fruit can all help keep you hydrated – it all counts.

So whether that is having a glass of juice at breakfast, extra milk on your cereal, having soup or a yoghurt with your lunch or enjoying an ice lolly whilst out in the garden – all of these drinks or fluid rich foods can help keep you hydrated throughout the day.

The recommended minimum amount of fluid intake for an adult is between 1,600 and 2,000 mls (3-3.5 pints) which is around eight glasses or mugs of fluid per day. All fluids count apart from alcohol, which can actually cause dehydration.

For those taking regular medicine, it’s important to take with a full glass of water to help wash them down and ensure they are absorbed as intended. Always ask your pharmacist for advice if you are unsure on how you should take your medicine.

Now We're Talking+

The coronavirus outbreak has changed all of our lives. During times of uncertainty, we can feel anxious and stressed. Feelings of isolation, boredom and loneliness are natural. It’s important we keep talking to each other.

Stay in touch with friends and family to support mental health. The simplest thing we can do for mental wellbeing is to stay connected. Use the internet, telephone, even written letters, to reach out. Lift each other’s spirits by speaking and listening.

Connect online with others who are experiencing the same feelings. Online communities are an increasingly popular source of support.

Kooth.com and Qwell.io are commissioned to provide an online wellbeing platform which along with text based counselling also includes helpful articles, forums, activity centre, daily journal and messaging. The service provides a free and non-judgemental place for people to connect with others and they have instant access to self-help materials and moderated discussion forums. People can also contribute written pieces of work reflecting their own experiences, as well as accessing drop-in or booked sessions with professional counsellors, available 365 days a year, 12pm -10pm on weekdays and 6pm-10pm on weekends.
