Our Unemployment Insurance (UI)/Tax Accounting Unit protects the integrity of the UI trust fund as it is an integral part of paying unemployment benefits to claimants. The UI/Tax Accounting Unit is in need of hiring three (3) Full-Time/Non-Permanent Office Assistant 3's (OA3). In this position, you will perform a variety of complex data entry and clerical duties such as keying quarterly and audit wages, processing documents and reports, and maintaining unit leave requests. Your ability to navigate multiple systems will be relied upon as you review employer information, verify wages records, key wages, and process payments. As a self-motivated and detail oriented OA3 you will be essential in promoting economic resilience and prosperity.

What a typical day looks like:
  • Key quarterly wages information in NGTS.
  • Key audit wages in NGTS.
  • Retrieve, review, and distribute (electronic and paper) incoming unit mail to the appropriate staff.
  • Process returned warrants and note employer's account for action taken.
  • Contact employers regarding dishonored electronic payments and note employers account.
  • Review and process EAMS Authorization Forms for access to Locked Service request.
  • Contact employer to update owner information.
  • Process ON Hold payments and get dishonored payment information

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Two (2) years of clerical experience.
OR
  • A combination of education and/or relevant experience.

Additional Requirements of Employment:
  • The ability to type 40 WPM
  • The ability to 10-key at 8000 keystrokes per hour.

Insurance Benefits

Retirement and Deferred Compensation
 
State Employees are members of the Washington Public Employees' Retirement System (PERS).  New employees have the option of two employer contributed retirement programs.  For additional information, check out the Department of Retirement Systems' web site.
 
Employees also have the ability to participate in the Deferred Compensation Program (DCP).  This is a supplemental retirement savings program (similar to an IRA) that allows you control over the amount of pre-tax salary dollars you defer as well as the flexibility to choose between multiple investment options.
 
Vacation (Annual Leave)
 
You begin accruing vacation starting your first month of employment. Since we value your loyalty, the amount of vacation you can accrue increases the longer you work with us. Washington State supports members of the armed forces with 21 days paid military leave per year. Vacation accrues for full-time employees per WAC 357-31-165.
