‘Project America Strong’ Donates 36 Million Face Coverings to Non-profits

FEMA has coordinated the donation of 36 million cloth masks to 715 nonprofit organizations in support of ‘Project America Strong,’ the federal government’s program to provide cloth face coverings.

Through its coordination with nonprofit organizations, the FEMA donations management team also matched hundreds of thousands of contributions of hand sanitizers, N95 masks, face shields, surgical gloves, cases of food and many other donations. To date, the team received over 800 offers of assistance and will continue to work to ensure supplies meet the needs of organizations helping the public through the pandemic.

The support from the private sector to provide medical supplies and other resources for COVID-19 has been tremendous. FEMA and its interagency partners have helped to match the many offers of assistance to get supplies to the right place, at the right time, and in the right quantity.

FEMA continues to marshal generous donations of medical supplies and equipment to nonprofits. Nonprofits are still in need of gloves, N-95 masks, disinfectants, food, hand sanitizers and other supplies. Visit the FEMA website or send questions to FEMA about how to donate.

FEMA Opens Public Comment Period for the Individual Assistance Program and Policy Guide

The Individual Assistance Program and Policy Guide (IAPPG) has been updated and is now available for public comment. Version 1.1 includes several changes that incorporate assistance authorized in the Disaster Recovery Reform Act of 2018.

This new version is an interim version planned for release while the agency conducts a more thorough review and update of the IAPPG. It will supersede the March 2019 version and will be applicable to all Individual Assistance declarations on or after the date of publication.

FEMA will accept public comments submitted between July 8 and Aug. 24. All comments should be submitted using the accompanying comments matrix. Any comments received before the close of the public comment period will be reviewed and considered for the final version of the guide to be released by the end of 2020. The draft Individual Assistance Program and Policy Guide and accompanying comments matrix are available on the FEMA website
