2019 Hudson River Estuary Coordinator's Report Available

The 2019 Hudson River Estuary Coordinator's Report is now available on DEC's Hudson River Estuary Program webpage. The Hudson River Estuary Program was created in 1987 through the Hudson River Estuary Management Act. The program focuses on the tidal Hudson and adjacent watershed from the federal dam at Troy to the Verrazano Narrows in New York City.  The Coordinator's Report highlights the steps being taken by DEC and its partners toward a clean and accessible Hudson River. 

Last Reminder for Water Well Contractors to Register with DEC

The DEC Water Well Contractor Program will accept applications until March 31, 2020, for the Certificate of Registration for the period April 1, 2020 through March 31, 2021. This registration is required for water well contractors who drill or repair water wells in New York State. The on-site contractor must be certified for the work that they are conducting (well drilling and/or pump installation). A preliminary notice must be filed prior to drilling a well and a water well completion report must be filed upon completion of water well drilling. A Reminder to Flush Responsibly

Certain materials flushed down toilets can damage sewer systems, wastewater treatment operations, or private septic systems, even when they are labeled as flushable. Correcting the damage is expensive, so do not flush any of the items below, no matter how small. Please throw them in the trash. 

• diapers
• baby wipes
• disinfectant wipes
• personal hygiene products
• any paper products other than toilet paper (e.g., paper towels, facial tissue, paper napkins)
