Pathway to autism services and supports webinar series

A Minnesota team of interagency professionals is hosting a series of webinars to help increase awareness and access to the range of services and supports available to people with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) across the lifespan. Representatives from the following agencies/organizations will present and answer your questions:

  • · Minnesota Department of Education (MDE)
  • · Minnesota Department of Health (MDH)
  • · Minnesota Department of Employment and Economic Development (DEED)
  • · Minnesota Department of Human Services (DHS)
  • · The Institute on Community Integration (ICI) at the University of Minnesota-Twin Cities.
  • We also will review how services and supports for autism and related conditions are being provided or adapted during the COVID-19 public health emergency.

  • · Topic: First Steps: Pathway to learning, playing and growing
  • · Summary: This webinar will provide a summary of key developmental milestones that babies and toddlers should be achieving. It also will include practical tips, tools and guidance to help your child’s development. In addition, we will review what resources are available to parents and caregivers who have questions or concerns about their child’s development.

  • 11 a.m.-noon Monday, Nov. 16, 2020

  • · Topic: Next Steps: Pathway to services and supports for a child recently identified with ASD
  • · Summary: This webinar will help parents and caregivers understand options for their child in the year following a diagnosis. We will break down step-by-step who to reach out to and what supports are available. We also will provide information about the similarities and differences between the medical and educational pathways to services and supports for ASD.

  • 11 a.m.-noon Monday, Nov. 30, 2020

  • · Topic: Pathway to autism services and supports
  • · Summary: This webinar will focus on the range of services and supports available to a person with ASD across Minnesota’s systems of support in the years that follow a diagnosis. We will include resources to help navigate and coordinate services across service teams.

  • 11 a.m.-noon Monday, Dec. 14, 2020

  • · Topic: Next Stage: Pathway to transition and long-term services and supports for ASD
  • · Summary: This webinar will focus on transition services including housing, employment and long-term service and support options.
