The Maine DEP Division of Response Services has made a substantial revision to the Maine Marine Oil Spill Contingency Plan and is accepting comments from any interested parties until November 27, 2020. Comments may be sent (preferably by email) to ginger.c.mcmullin@maine.gov or by regular mail to Ginger McMullin, Maine DEP, Division of Response Services, 312 Canco Road, Portland, ME 04103. (207) 822-6352. The existing Oil Spill Contingency Plan can be viewed at https://www.maine.gov/dep/spills/emergspillresp/marine.html
The purpose of the Marine Oil Spill Contingency Plan is to coordinate the State's response to marine oil spills by establishing requirements and procedures for the notification for, assessment of and response to releases or threats of a release of oil. This plan sets forth the roles and responsibilities of the DEP, potentially responsible parties, governmental agencies and the public in response actions.
