First Twitter town hall generates dozens of questions; more outreach planned

Gov. Jay Inslee hosted a one-hour Twitter Town Hall today as part of the launch of his new performance management initiative called Results Washington.

Inslee and members of his Results Washington team responded to 31 questions and heard from more than 100 participants. Participants could tweet a question to Inslee via his Twitter handle @GovInslee or by using the hashtag #ResultsWA. During the town hall, #ResultsWA was reported as a trending topic on Twitter in Seattle.

Education and health care were the most popular topics. Comments also touched on everything from transportation to farming to water quality. Inslee says answers to questions the team wasn’t able to respond to online or that require a lengthier response than Twitter allows will be posted to the Results Washington website early next week.

“We’ve laid out ambitious goals in Results Washington, and want to make sure we’re measuring progress the right way. To do that, we need to know what our partner organizations and Washingtonians think are important,” Inslee said. “We’ll take a close look at the suggestions and feedback people offered as we continue finalizing our goals. We really appreciate everyone who offered up constructive ideas for making our state government more effective and prioritizing our resources.”

Results Washington will host a second round of outreach beginning next week that gives Washingtonians two weeks to offer ideas via an online feedback forum. More information about how to submit comments or questions as well as detailed information about Inslee’s proposed goals and performance measures is available at www.results.wa.gov.
