Please join the library and the Missouri State Museum to learn about some of Missouri’s most significant trailblazers in this monthly series of programs in honor of Missouri's Bicentennial. What is a trailblazer, you might ask? A trailblazer is someone who has impacted our culture through major events, leadership, innovation and more! In April, we'll highlight the life and career of artist Thomas Hart Benton.

Viewing the mural "A Social History of the State of Missouri" is one of the most exciting parts of a visit to our state’s Capitol. Painted by Benton in 1936, the mural tells the story of our state from its pioneer beginnings to the industrial 20th century. Dr. Sarah Jones, art historian and museum interpreter, will discuss Benton’s life and career including the story of his Missouri mural and his role in the rise of American Regionalism.

Ages 10-adult. Please register to receive a Zoom link.

If you miss the live event, you can watch the recorded event later; check www.dbrl.org/events for the link.

For more exciting Missouri history, please visit the Missouri Trailblazers and the Missouri Bicentennial Timeline exhibits at the Missouri State Museum, located in the Missouri State Capitol. It’s YOUR History, and you are always welcome in Missouri State Parks!
