Suspect indicted in February Highlandtown homicide

BALTIMORE (WBFF) - Baltimore City State's Attorney Marilyn Mosby's office has indicted a 20-year-old man in a February homicide in Highlandtown, as well as a carjacking in Baltimore City and a robbery in Baltimore County.

Daquan Murphy has been indicted in the fatal shooting of Marcus Bentely on East Lombard Street near South Highland Avenue at about 1:20 a.m. on Feb. 10, according to a press release.

After allegedly shooting Bentely, the suspect fled in a Toyota that had been stolen earlier that day in the city, according to the release.

The same Toyota was later used in a commercial robbery in Baltimore County.

Mosby said in a statement:

Heinous acts of brutal and senseless violence, such as that alleged, is unacceptable and will not be tolerated. We will continue to work closely with the Baltimore Police Department to do our part to hold those that inflict these acts accountable.

  • Use of a Firearm in a crime of violence or felony – 20 years with the first 5 years without the possibility of parole
  • Transporting a Handgun in Vehicle – 3 years
  • Wear, Carry, Transport Loaded Handgun on Person – 3 years
  • Wear, Carry, Transport Handgun on Person – 3 years


Case 3B02434456 – Maximum of two Life sentences plus 23 years for all charges

  • Attempted First Degree Murder - Life
  • Attempted Second Degree Murder – 40 years
  • First Degree Assault – 25 years
  • Conspiracy to Commit First Degree Murder – Life
  • Attempted Armed Robbery – 20 years
  • Attempted Robbery – 15 years
  • Conspiracy to Commit Armed Robbery – 20 years
  • Use of a Firearm in a Crime of Violence or Felony – 20 years with the first 5 years without the possibility of parole
