The Boulder County Food & Beverage Pollution-Reduced Packaging Pilot is designed to support area businesses as they transition to pollution-reduced and sustainable packaging formats.  Applications are due on or before on or before 4:00 PM mountain time on August 13, 2021.

Project Goals

Provide financial and technical support to assist food and beverage manufacturers transition to packaging that is reusable, recyclable, compostable, or that reduces toxic pollutants, use of water, energy, or other raw materials.


Why Join

Businesses accepted into the pilot will have access to the following:

  • Financial Incentive: Financial support up to $10,000 will be offered to accepted businesses to use on sustainable packaging-related expenses.
  • Technical Assistance: No cost technical and consulting services from subject matter experts at Resource Recycling Systems (recycle.com) .
  • Environmental and Cost Analysis: Access to tools to evaluate environmental and cost impacts associated with a packaging transition.
  • Collaborative Workshop: Invitation only event for pilot businesses to learn, collaborate, and meet with packaging experts.

Applications are due on or before 4:00 PM mountain time on August 13, 2021. Applications must be submitted electronically to bkurzynowski@Recycle.com . Applications must be submitted in Microsoft Word or PDF formats.

Eligibility

To be eligible for the pilot, businesses must be food or beverage manufacturers with headquarters or a business location within Boulder County. Eligible businesses may package their products directly or have a co-packager that they send the products to for packaging. The product packaging may take place outside of Boulder County. There is no minimum or maximum size business. Marijuana manufacturing companies are not eligible for the pilot.
