The Atlantic sea scallop fishery is one of the most successful fisheries in the country. In 2019, commercial landings of Atlantic sea scallops totaled more than 60.6 million pounds of sea scallop meats and were valued at approximately $570 million. There are many partners and people involved in the fishery that assist in the collection of data and management of the species. The Atlantic sea scallop is a smart seafood choice because it is sustainably managed and responsibly harvested. Check out this interactive story map to learn more about our Research Set-Aside program and how we're working to learn more about this species and what makes a successful fishery.
