Adults 65+ Years Should Get Additional Dose

CDC recommends that adults ages 65 years and older receive an additional updated 2023-2024 COVID-19 vaccine dose.

Residents without insurance or whose insurance does not cover the vaccines can get the vaccines at no cost through the CDC’s Bridge Access Program at participating pharmacies and MCPH clinics.

Emergency Department Visits due to COVID-Like Illness in Mecklenburg County

During March 22 - April 4, 2024, there were 391 emergency department (ED) visits for COVID-19-like illness (CLI) in Mecklenburg County.

Of those ED visits, 50 (12.8%) resulted in hospital admission.

  • 40-60% of the wastewater samples tested at 3 monitoring sites.
  • 60-80% of the wastewater samples tested at 1 monitoring site.
