Special Pesticide Registrations

Special pesticide registrations allow pesticide products to be used for purposes other than those listed on the label – against pests not listed, on crops not listed, or other variations from the label. This may be:

  • Because of an insect or disease outbreak

  • To control pests in a specialized or localized crop

  • Experimental use

  • Other local or emergency needs

These special registrations may be allowed under either state or federal regulations. In Wisconsin, those allowed under federal regulation also need approval from the Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection. See information at right for details about which registrations would be appropriate for your situation, and use the contact information if you have further questions.
