About a year ago, CCJ and COSCA adopted a set of guiding principles for post-pandemic court technology that called for courts “to adopt a remote-first or remote-friendly approach…when moving court processes forward.” A new scan by the RRT’s Technology Work Group and the Remote and Virtual Hearings Implementation Lab reveals where many courts are adapting rules for remote proceedings and what those rules look like. This webinar and high-energy discussion focused on how the concerns about the digital divide, public access, and participant safety are being addressed. Speakers also talked about how their courts wrote guidelines to uphold virtual courtroom decorum and rules for making the record in a virtual environment.
