LAREDO, Texas – Laredo Sector Border Patrol agents were busy visiting area schools for the annual 2021 Red Ribbon Week. Red Ribbon Week is a proactive effort to educate the youth about the dangers of drugs and to grow up drug-free.
During Red Ribbon week from Oct. 21-29, agents from the Laredo Sector Border Patrol visited with area elementary schools where they conducted various presentations emphasizing the history of Drug Enforcement Administration Agent Enrique “Kiki” Camarena, a tribute to this fallen Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA). According to the DEA, Red Ribbon Week is the nation’s largest and longest-running drug awareness and prevention program.

The students together with Laredo Sector Border Patrol agents recited the traditional Drug Free Pledge, “I pledge, to set a good example for myself and others, to respect my body and mind and SAY NO TO DRUGS. I pledge, to be a positive role model for my friends and family and always STAY DRUG FREE.”
