An Indoor Skate Park for New Jersey

Freedom is an all-volunteer 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to providing an indoor skate park and creative space in New Jersey. Skateboarding helps people of all ages learn to think creatively, set goals and work hard to achieve them, and become more open-minded while improving their physical and emotional health.

Freedom allows more people to experience the benefits of skateboarding, enhances Trenton’s cultural landscape, and improves outcomes for at-risk youth by providing a high-quality, public, indoor skate park where skaters of all skill levels and backgrounds can come together to practice their skills, form friendships, and learn from one another.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION ABOUT OUR HOURS

Because Freedom shares the space we use with other organizations, we do not have regular public hours. Please see the “Program” section of our website or check our social media pages for information about upcoming public events.

For Skaters

Because most skate parks in New Jersey are outside and do not have lights, there are almost no safe places for skaters to practice when it is too rainy, cold, or dark to skate outside.

Freedom’s Open Skate program provides skaters from Trenton and the surrounding areas a safe place to practice their skills and connect with other people who share their passion when weather prevents them from using outdoor facilities. Open Skate events attract riders of all ages, skill levels, and backgrounds and the self-directed nature of Open Skate programs fosters creativity, perseverance, and community among those who participate.

For Kids

Skateboarding is a unique activity that teaches crucial life lessons that have benefits far beyond the skate park. The process of seeing an obstacle, thinking of a trick to do on that obstacle, and then perfecting the physical skill needed to perform the trick teaches young people to think outside the box, set goals for themselves, and follow through.

Freedom teaches kids in Trenton these lessons by providing a space for them to interact with and become part of the skateboarding community. We target underserved children specifically by hosting beginner skate events and board giveaways for at-risk youth.

For Trenton

From the graphics on the bottom of skateboard decks, to the fashions skateboarders wear while they push down the street, to the music that gives skate videos their unique feel, art and skateboarding have been sources of mutual inspiration since skateboarding began.

Freedom works hard to shine a spotlight on Trenton's vibrant arts and music scene through a variety of special events, art shows, concerts, skate contests, and even a circus skate show with Trenton Circus Squad.
