In 2020, as restrictions across the country grew, Outdoor Educators and Becoming an Outdoors Woman Coordinators from the Iowa Department of Natural Resources, Kansas Parks & Tourism, Nebraska Game & Parks started talking about how our traditional hands-on physical programs were being cancelled. With COVID-19 setting in and changing many of our programming plans for 2020 (and now 2021), we wanted to continue reaching the constituents.  Using this concept of a monthly subscription box, we decided to create our own learning box, which highlighted the necessary skills and tools to participate in a particular outdoor activity. With that said, Nebraska, Iowa and Kansas launched the program, She Goes Outdoors!

Unlike other box subscriptions, our content is geared to teach new skills. Also, content in the box will be surprise at delivery.   Again, since we are unable to personally be in the same room with the constituents, we are sending the hands-on learning content to the door step.  We pair the subscription box content with educational print resources, a website just for their access and a virtual webinar.
