Diet Culture and Its Impacts on us: A Balanced You Workshop

As part of Balanced You's Food and Body Liberation program, we are hosting Liberating Jasper for a 75-minute workshop on Diet Culture and Its Impacts on Us. "Diet culture" is a set of beliefs that values thinness, appearance, and shape above health & well-being. In the US, this set of beliefs is reflected in everything from radio, movies, TV shows, and magazine racks to informational brochures in our doctors' offices.

There’s a constant stream of information from all directions telling us to change. But what if your body isn't a problem to be fixed? In this session, we'll talk about the origins of diet culture and the subtle and not-so-subtle ways it shows up in our lives. We'll also talk about strategies to help you ditch diet culture--just in time for all the "new year, new you" messaging coming up. A recording of this session will be shared for those that cannot attend live.

Follow the prompts to select your MFA notification preferences (call, text or app), and remember to remove your old device when you’re done. Don’t wait – set a backup option today!

Training Spotlight:

Brain-based Time Management – Online – Do you procrastinate, get distracted, have a hard time prioritizing, or feel overwhelmed? What we do and how we do it are driven by how our brains are wired. Neuroscience tells us we have 10 brain skills and each one of us has skills that are strong (and skills that are not strong). In this class, you’ll hear about each of these skills so you can identify where the weak areas are for you and most importantly, learn what you can do about it. Imagine finishing your workday with confidence that you remembered and handled everything you needed to! This class is $50 and the next session takes place:
