Launch of Upper Susquehanna Watershed Progress Dashboard

Upper Susquehanna WatershedDEC has launched an ArcGIS Dashboard to provide stakeholders with a simple and direct platform to access data and information relevant to the Upper Susquehanna Basin and Chesapeake Bay TMDL in New York. Users can view current best management practices (BMP) implementation, water quality trends, locations of recent state biological monitoring results, and estimated nutrient and sediment loads delivered to the Chesapeake Bay. The Upper Susquehanna Watershed Progress Dashboard Guide contains step-by-step directions on how to use the dashboard. Questions should be directed to Cassandra Davis at (518) 402-8086 or cassandra.davis@dec.ny.gov.

The Upper Susquehanna River Watershed includes much of New York’s Southern Tier and is the northern headwaters of the Chesapeake Bay. New York State, along with five other states and Washington D.C., are implementing watershed implementation plans to reduce nutrients in the Chesapeake Bay.

Research and Outreach Funding Available

The New York State Water Resources Institute (WRI) and DEC are requesting pre-proposals for applied research, outreach, and policy analysis in support of WRI’s statewide water resource research and outreach agenda (PDF), and the state’s watershed action agenda goals, including New York’s Great Lakes Action Agenda, Hudson River Estuary Action Agenda, and the Mohawk River Basin Action Agenda.

The primary objective of this funding opportunity is to provide research and assessment support to watershed-based management, policy, outreach, and education. Pre-proposals are requested by January 14, 2022. For more information, visit WRI's website and the RFP (PDF).
