The Unique Entity ID has replaced the DUNS Number. Here is what you can do:
- If you need an entity registration and do not have one saved from before the transition (April 1 or earlier): Go to SAM.gov, sign in, and select Get Started to begin your registration. You will be assigned a Unique Entity ID when SAM.gov validates your entity information.
- If you need an entity registration and you have a saved registration from before the transition (April 1 or earlier): Go to SAM.gov, sign in, and select the Entity Management widget in your Workspace. Select the registration with the status “In Draft” that you want to finish. Complete the registration.
- If you need to check on a ticket you opened for your entity information validation during an update, renewal, or registration on April 4 or later: Sign in to FSD.gov to check the status of that ticket. Please make sure all communications about entity validation are made only through the ticketing system. Please do not call or chat the FSD help desk with entity validation questions, because the front-line help desk does not have access to the information you provided through SAM.gov and cannot provide updates on your ticket status.
If you need just a Unique Entity ID, e.g., as a sub-awardee who does not need an entity registration: Go to SAM.gov, sign in, and select Get Started. Follow the prompts to get only a Unique Entity ID. This is a quick process that does not require you to complete an entity registration.
