Nonprofit application cycle and workshops

For over 30 years, King County employees have been giving to participating nonprofits of their choice through the Employee Giving Program. This past year we pledged nearly $2.4 million!

For nonprofit organizations to benefit from this program, they must apply annually and meet the eligibility requirements — even if they have participated in the past.

Nonprofits are encouraged to join a workshop before applying. Participants in a workshop are more likely to submit error-free, eligible applications.

The application deadline is May 4, 2022. Click here for additional information.

Training Spotlight:

Brain-based Time Management – Online – Do you procrastinate, get distracted, have a hard time prioritizing, or feel overwhelmed? What we do and how we do it are driven by how our brains are wired. Neuroscience tells us we have 10 brain skills and each one of us has skills that are strong (and skills that are not so strong). In this class, you’ll hear about each of these skills so you can identify where the weak areas are for you and most importantly, learn what you can do about it. The next session is:

  •  Wednesday, April 6, from 1 to 4:30 p.m. Fee is $50. Register here.

Secrets of Powerful Writing – Online – North Seattle College – In this hands-on class you'll learn to clarify your message, communicate complex information, avoid common mistakes, edit and proofread your writing, use proper grammar and punctuation, communicate on social media, and more. This is a three-session course and all three sessions must be attended for completion.

  • Mondays April 11, 18, and 25 from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Fee is $99. Register here.

Facilitating Effective Meetings – Online – A common challenge faced by individuals in business is how to lead and facilitate meetings that are interesting and solicit active engagement. This two-day training covers the skills used by a facilitator to design and run an effective meeting. How to be a better participant is also discussed. Topics include specific facilitation skills, group decision making skills, and how to deal with disruptive behaviors. In this class you will learn how to navigate difficult behaviors and keep meetings on track.

  • Tuesday and Wednesday, April 12-13, from 1 to 4:30 p.m. Fee is $65. Register here.
