2024 ceremony for fallen officers

Please join AG Yost, others on May 2 to honor our heroes

The public is invited to join Attorney General Yost, members of the Ohio Peace Officer Training Commission, and the law enforcement community in honoring and remembering our fallen heroes on May 2, 2024, at the 36th Ohio Peace Officers Memorial Ceremony.

This solemn event, held annually on the first Thursday in May, pays tribute to all Ohio law enforcement officers lost in the line of duty, with special recognition planned this year for nine peace officers who made the ultimate sacrifice in recent years and one historical honoree.

Rain or shine, the ceremony will begin at 11 a.m. on the grounds of the Ohio Peace Officer Training Academy (OPOTA) in London – where the Ohio Fallen Officers Memorial Wall bears the names of peace officers lost on the job since 1823.

The eternal flame at the center of the memorial symbolizes the Attorney General’s commitment to never forget these officers and serves as a poignant reminder of the risks that the men and women behind the badge face every day.
