AASD, Behavioral Health and DSD eList announcement

Date: May 18, 2022
To: Direct support professionals, service providers, lead agencies and other interested parties
From: DHS Aging and Adult Services, Behavioral Health and Disability Services divisions
Purpose: To share a new DHS communication strategy for direct support professionals
Contact: PositiveSupports@state.mn.us

DHS will be sending announcements targeted to direct support professionals

DHS will share targeted communications with direct support professionals (DSPs) to help address the workforce shortage and to support DSPs in their important work. We use the term DSP to mean any non-licensed worker who provides direct care or support to people with disabilities, older adults or people who have mental health care needs. Historically, DHS has targeted communication to service providers, people who use services and lead agencies. But with growing workforce needs, we will expand communication to this new audience.

How to sign up for DSP-targeted communications

DSPs may sign up to receive emailed information from DHS using this subscription link. While Disability Services will be managing the announcements, DSPs who work in aging or behavioral health settings will also find many of the announcements helpful in their work.

Suggestions welcome

If you have ideas for specific topics you would like information about, submit them using this online form. Upcoming topics will include grant opportunities for DSPs, legislative updates that affect DSP work, public health care benefit options and more.

Please help spread the word

If you know a DSP, please share this information so we can reach as many workers as possible.
