The Queen’s Jubilee is almost upon us! How are you planning to celebrate this historic occasion?

With street parties, festivals, trails, music and more planned across North Kesteven, here’s your guide to what’s on in the Heart of Lincs this Bank Holiday weekend.

PLATINUM JUBILEE DIARY TRAIL

Mrs Smith was a huge fan of the Royal Family and there are many mentions of them in her diaries throughout the years. Visit Mrs Smith’s Cottage this Platinum Jubilee weekend and follow the diary trail around her charming cottage and beautiful cottage garden!

THE QUEEN’S CROWN JUBILEE TRAIL

Where: Navigation House, Cogglesford Watermill, Cranwell Aviation Heritage Museum & Mrs Smith’s Cottage

More Details: Fancy a weekend of exploring some great venues? Collect a blanks crown from Navigation House, Cogglesford Watermill or Cranwell Aviation Heritage Museum and collect jewels to decorate it as you visit each site! If you can’t make it round all of them at once don’t worry – you’ve got the whole Bank Holiday weekend.

More Details: Communities are coming together to make fantastic displays this Bank Holiday weekend – the theme for Leasingham’s Scarecrow Festival is the Royals, and all things British!

JUBILEE BEACON LIGHTING & SUPPER

Where: International Bomber Command Centre

Date & Time: 2 June 2022, 7:30-10pm

More Details: Join the IBCC team as we mark Her Majesty the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee with the lighting of a beacon, the playing of Diu Regnare by Pipe Major Finlay MacGhee, the IBCC Choir and Orchestra and a platter supper served in the IBCC Events Marquee.

TOWN CRIER’S PROCLAMATION

Where: Sleaford Market Place

Date & Time: 2 June 2022, 2pm

FLAG CEREMONY, BELL RINGING & CHOIR

Where: St Andrew’s Church & Hanworth Park, Potterhanworth

Date & Time: 2 June 2022, midday

More Details: The flag ceremony and bell ringing start at midday at St Andrew’s Church. In Hanworth Park from midday there will be a Family Sports Day (bring your own picnic) and from 6-7pm Lincoln Orpheus Male Voice Choir will perform.

1940’S DAY – SLEAFORD

Where: William Alvey C of E School, NG34 7EA

More Details: Entry to the event and all the attractions is free!

Come along to this Jubilee celebration where there’ll be singers, food and drink, stalls, Punch and Judy Shows, Tea Dance, air raid shelter tours, bouncy castle and inflatable obstacle run, vintage games, ice cream seller, model tanks and soldiers, balloon modelling, a fire engine display, historic vehicle displays, face painter, hair stylist and a best dressed competition for adults and children.

FARMER’S MARKET, SLEAFORD

FAMILY FUN DAY

JUBILEE GLENN MILLER CONCERT

Where: International Bomber Command Centre

Date & Time: 4 June 2022, 2pm-4pm

More details: To celebrate the Platinum Jubilee of Her Majesty the Queen, IBCC are delighted to bring you our Open-Air Glenn Miller tribute show. Come and join in for an afternoon of music and fun as we dance along to the Kalamazoo band.

Our young Queen Elizabeth will be joining us to meet her subjects, so there will be photo opportunities not to be missed!

Entry to the site and concert is free.  Parking is £3.00 for the whole day and helps us to maintain the grounds, keep you safe and lay on events.

Please bring a fold up chair or blanket as seating is reserved.
