Sheriff’s Office K9 units on the world stage
Next to the Olympic Games, the World Athletics Championships is the biggest track and field event on the planet.The competition was held in the United States for the first time for 10 days this past July on the University of Oregon campus in Eugene.
At an event with such global importance, ensuring the safety of everyone involved is the top priority. This requires bringing in specially trained bomb sniffing K9 units, which are in very limited supply. Two teams from the King County Sheriff's Office were there to help out. Read more.

King County Disability Equity Network meeting Aug. 9
King County Disability Equity Network (formerly the King County Disability Affinity Group) meetings are open to King County employees.
The purpose is to center and support those employees who self-identify as a person with a disability. Employees will not be asked to disclose any information regarding one’s disability.

In this interactive webinar, participants will take part in engaging activities, small group discussions, and action planning. This training is free and is offered on multiple dates with the next session taking place:
Communication and Problem Solving Skills – Online – This two-session class covers skills for effective listening, speaking, handling conflicts, and managing defensive behavior. The fee is $65 and attendance at both days is required for completion of the class.
