Local residents can now join in the second round of the group-buying scheme to save money on the installation of solar panels and battery storage for their homes.

Dover District Council in partnership with Kent County Council endorses the scheme administered by iChoosr who specialise in group-buying schemes. The Solar Together programme has been successfully run across the UK for several years.   To date, Solar Together has delivered over 7,000 installations (including more than 230 in Kent) and over 130,000 tonnes of avoided lifetime carbon emissions.

Solar Together Kent will use the collective buying power to help residents feel confident that they are paying a competitive price for a high-quality installation from pre-approved installers.

Homeowners and small businesses looking to lower their carbon footprint, seeking more independence from the grid can register for free and without obligation online now at www.solartogether.co.uk/dover by providing details of your roof (size and orientation). If you already have solar panels installed, you can also register to have battery storage added to your existing solar panels to maximise the benefits of your system.

Cllr Chris Vinson, DDC Cabinet Member for Climate Change said: “This is a good opportunity for local residents to join as a group to reduce their own individual carbon footprint, and to help control their future energy bills by switching to renewable energy.  Dover District Council has joined Solar Together Kent for the second round as group-buying helps to secure a more affordable deal than buying as an individual, and progress towards net zero in the district depends on everyone making a contribution.”

Marie-Louise Abretti, iChoosr UK Solar Manager added: “With energy prices increasing residents of Kent are looking for opportunities to reduce their carbon emissions, save on energy bills and increase their independence from the grid. The Solar Together group-buying scheme offers a straightforward way to make an informed decision and to access a competitive offer from a trusted, vetted provider.”

Registration is open until the day of the auction, which is set for 15 March 2022.  For more information, or to register, please see the Solar Together page.
