USAID is excited to launch our very first Local Capacity Strengthening (LCS) Policy. We invite you to attend the virtual launch event on Wednesday, October 19, from 8:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. EDT, hosted by Deputy Administrator Paloma Adams-Allen. You can register for the event here.

The event will be recorded, live-streamed on YouTube, and made available for those unable to attend. The Local Capacity Strengthening Policy will be published prior to the launch event; in the meantime, please see a two-page summary here

The LCS Policy commits the Agency to strengthen the ability of local actors, organizations, networks, and systems to achieve and sustain results and achieve their own mission and vision for success. As the Agency continues to advance Localization, this Policy provides guidance on how USAID’s capacity strengthening programming can be more locally led and responsive.

The Policy is the culmination of years of work by USAID and non-USAID practitioners. Due to the many contributions, consultations, workshops, focus groups, reviews, and 600 pages of comments, the drafting process has come to a successful conclusion. USAID is bringing together the internal and external stakeholders who contributed to this process to celebrate this shared achievement and shift the conversation towards implementation.

During the launch event, you will learn more about USAID’s Local Capacity Strengthening Policy principles, the consultative process we undertook to develop and revise the Policy, and USAID’s plans to implement the Policy throughout the Agency’s programming.

We look forward to seeing you!
