Attorney General James Remarks on DACA Following Supreme Court Argument

AG James DACA

NEW YORK – New York Attorney General Letitia James released the following statement after oral arguments concluded at the United States Supreme Court over the Trump Administration’s attempts to cancel the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program:

“We believe the case is clear: To continue to use DREAMers as political bargaining chips is a historic and unforgivable travesty of justice. The reasoning provided by the federal government for ending DACA is fundamentally flawed and should not stand.

“I am proud to stand with California Attorney General Xavier Becerra and all the other groups who have fought tirelessly to protect DACA. Together, we are jointly opposing the Trump Administration’s arbitrary and capricious attempt to put the lives of hundreds of thousands of individuals in jeopardy.

“In the name of fairness and equal justice under the law, we trust that our case and our values will prevail.”

Today’s arguments were heard over the consolidated cases of Department of Homeland Security v. Regents of the University of California, Trump v. NAACP, and McAleenan v. Vidal.
