Kauai Lane Closures

FOR THE WEEK OF APRIL 13 – APRIL 19

PLEASE NOTE: 

Due to recent weather events, HDOT crews are planning to conduct further storm cleanup on Saturday, April 13 at: Kuamoo Road; Kuhio Highway at Kapaa Roundabout; Kuhio Highway in Anahola and at Kuhio Highway across Wilcox Hospital.  Lane closure schedules may change at any time without further notice. All projects are weather permitting. 

  

— KAUMUALII HIGHWAY (ROUTE 50) — 

1) KOLOA  

Single lane closure on Kaumualii Highway (Route 50) possible in either direction, between mile post 5.95 and 6.97 in the vicinity of Maluhia Road, beginning Monday, April 15 through Friday, April 19, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. for engineering survey work. 

 

2) LAWAI TO KEKAHA  

Right lane closure on Kaumualii Highway (Route 50) possible in either direction, between mile post 10 and 24.5, in the vicinity of Akemama Road and Kekaha Road, beginning Tuesday, April 16 through Friday, April 19, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. for guardrail repairs. 

 

3) HANAPEPE TO KAUMAKANI 

Right lane closure on Kaumualii Highway (Route 50) possible in either direction, between Lele Road and Kaumakani Road, on Monday, April 15 through Friday, April 19, from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. for shoulder grading. 

 

— KUHIO HIGHWAY (ROUTES 56/560) — 

1) LIHUE (WEEKEND/NIGHT WORK) 

Single lane closure on Kuhio Highway (Route 56) possible in either direction, between in the vicinity of Rice Street, on Sunday, April 14 through Friday, April 19, from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. for highway reconstruction. 

 

2) LIHUE TO HANAMAULU  

Single lane closure on Kuhio Highway (Route 56) possible in either direction, between Kuene Street and Kapule Highway, on Monday, April 15 through Friday, April 19, from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. for striping and sign installation. 

 

3) PRINCEVILLE TO HANALEI  

Single lane closure on Kuhio Highway (Route 560) possible in either direction, between Hanalei Plantation Road and Ohiki Road, from Monday, April 15 through Friday, April 19, from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. for debris removal and hauling of slope material. Traffic will be alternated through the open lane. 

 

4) HANALEI  

Right lane closure on Kuhio Highway (Route 560) possible in either direction, between Ohiki Road, from Monday, April 15 through Friday, April 19, from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. for cutting grass. 

 

— HALEWILI ROAD (ROUTES 540) — 

1) KALAHEO TO ELEELE 

Right lane closure on Halewili Road (Route 540) possible in either direction, in the vicinity of Kaumualii Highway, on Monday, April 15 through Friday, April. 19, from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. for grass cutting. 

 

— WAIMEA CANYON DRIVE (ROUTES 550) — 

1) KOKEE 

Right lane closure on Waimea Canyon Drive (Route 550) possible in either direction, between mile post 3.3 and 9.7, on Monday, April 15, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. for guardrail repairs. 

 

2) KOKEE(WEEKEND/NIGHT WORK) 

Single lane closure on Waimea Canyon Drive (Route 550) possible in either direction, between mile post 11.5 and 14, on Sunday, April 14 through Friday, April 19 from 6 p.m. to 7 a.m. for road widening and paving. 

 

— KUAMOO ROAD (ROUTE 580) —  

1) WAILUA (24/7 CLOSURE) 

Single lane closure on Kuamoo Road (Route 580) in the vicinity of the Opaekaa Falls lookout, 24-hours a day, 7 days a week, until further notice for slope stabilization. — MAALO ROAD (ROUTE 583) —     

1) KAPAIA (WEEKEND WORK) 

Right lane closure on Maalo Road (Route 583) possible in either direction in the vicinity of Kuhio Highway, on Saturday, April 13 from 7 a.m.to 3:45 p.m. for tree trimming.  

 

2) KAPAIA  

Full closure of Maalo Road (Route 583) between mile post 2.8 and 3.91 in the vicinity of Wailua Falls Lookout, on Thursday, April 18 from 8:30 a.m.to 3 p.m. for tree trimming at the lookout. 

 

— KAPAA BYPASS ROAD (ROUTES 5600) — 

1) WAILUA TO KAPAA  

Right lane closure on Kapaa Bypass Road (Route 5600) possible in either direction, between mile post 1.55 to 2.62, on Monday, April 15 through Friday, April 19, from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. for cutting grass and shoulder grading.
